I haven’t picked up my sketch journal in a month. The least of many ways I’m starting again.
I haven’t picked up my sketch journal in a month. The least of many ways I’m starting again.
Hello & welcome! I’m Haley Montgomery, and I’m the designer and owner of Small Pond Graphics. I sometimes fancy myself a frog kisser— a documentarian coaxing poignant moments from unexpected places. This blog has evolved from those moments.
The small Pond FIELD GUIDE is part diary, part sketchbook, and part wish list – an archive of ordinary wonders. For years, this space has housed my stories – creative ideas, vintage inspiration, our forays into curious places, and the simple artifacts of quiet of conscious living. Through watercolor, photography, and illustrated tales, these pages uncover the blessing of ordinary days and the wonder found in authentic places and pursuits.
I invite you to open the boxes.
Peek into the drawers.
Rustle through the pages.
I’m honored to have you here.

Haley, you are truly amazing.
May God continue to give you strength, and continue to bless your many talents. May you continue to bloom in the shadow of His wings.
You have always been an inspiration. And now it’s humbling and awe-inspiring to watch (read) how you are dealing with your loss with unheard-of transparency and grace. You are a beautiful vessel of hope and incredible inspiration of how love and openness can bring healing. I know God is blessing and will bless many through your story.
I hope you will continue to write, share and allow others to connect with you … so that you never feel alone or find yourself isolated. I am sure you already know, but I’ll say it: You are loved. And I’ll step out and speak for many others who I know must feel the same way… There is a community of people ready to share with you in celebrating your joys … and ready to love you and comfort you in continuing to deal with your grief and your pain. Not just now, but in the days and years ahead. Forgive us if we do too much too soon. Forgive us if we don’t do enough. Keep expressing. Keep asking. We are listening the best we can for your cues and clues. 🙂
I care about you, and I’m here if you need anything.
Blessings to you and your beautiful kids.
Isaiah 40:31
..But those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
