October Field Guide [printable calendar]

Well, fall has officially arrived, and although the weather isn’t cooperating yet (at least in Mississippi), October has captured my attention — if only in wishful thinking. We may be sweating outside still, but around the Pond, my crew and I are undeterred in our excitement for all things autumn. This month is always like a new year, of sorts, for me, because it’s my birthday month — and 2019 is a momentous one! In keeping with our wishful thinking about fall, I’m sharing the art above as a free print. Just click it to download. I’ve also included a variation of it in my October calendar download. Plus, I’m giving you a peek at my newest print in the shop — an Autumn Field Guide!

Each year as I mark another year around the sun in October, it seems to come naturally to take stock, re-evaluate, to look back, to revisit goals for the year, to re-focus. Sometime this month (Mississippi, I really believe it will happen!) we’ll have a noticeable shift in the weather, which always seem to lend itself to shaking off the heaviness of summer’s most stifling temperatures. Just that physical shift makes my heart and mind feel lighter and more filled with anticipation about what may be ahead — the possibilities of each new day, the celebrations and the coming cooler season. I hope using the printable calendar will boost your anticipation, too!

During one of the more summer-like days last week, I took some time to think about so many things I love about fall, and consoled myself from summer’s grip by painting them! From football games and hot chocolate to bonfires, crunching leaves, and s’more building, I combined my favorites into this new Autumn Field Guide print available in my Etsy shop. Enjoy! I hope to be sharing some posts from my photo archive, family travels, and some new watercolor work this month, so I hope you’ll stay tuned.
