I’m trying something new on the Field Guide today. With the end of school commitments upon us, “summer vacation” looks a little different this year. Limited travel and social distancing are likely to put a damper on our usual adventuring plans and like most of us, we’re left with a lot of uncertainty about how the summer will unfold. My crew and I are already talking about how we will still enjoy our traditional Summer Jar with activities and everyday distractions that are closer to home, and we’re hopeful we can once again patron many of our favorite road trip and local haunts as we feel we can adventure safely. However, with the prospect of these changes and cautions continuing, I’ve been looking inward and around a bit for the inspiration I normally derive from many of our summer escapades.
Looking back through my photo archives always provides a trove of memories and pulls my thoughts back to unexpected views and inspiring moments. They have become small pockets of wonder as I delve into old files and past delights. Beginning with this post, I’ve decided to share some of that wonder in small capsule collections of photos — probably no more than five — curated to provide a moment of inspiration. Many of the photos I’ve never shared before, and each pocket of wonder will be centered around a single word that, in my mind, ties the images together. Though the images may be from different times and places, I see it as an opportunity for a little mind wandering. Hope you enjoy!
