favorite things . October Treats

It’s October! The temperatures and weather in my neck of the woods are finally beginning to feel Fall-like, and I have an excuse to indulge my appreciation for orange. Over the weekend I was looking through Etsy.com for vintage Halloween ephemera (because I’m quirky that way) and I came across these great examples of old treat bags. Get inspired by the orange and black to kick off the month, and dream of your favorite candies filling them!

favorite things . Alphabets

September has me thinking “Back to School” and I found these great alphabet products in my “love it” bookmarks. Inspiration emerges! Nothing makes a statement better than bold, black letters. (and who can resist the color of chip board? I can’t)

favorite thing . Your Coordinates

I saw this very creative pillow idea from Savannah, GA-based Love Lane Designs in the April issue of Southern Living, and it really struck a chord (with a smile). It’s such a small thing–a simple set of numbers and symbols, really. But, I guess it’s a pretty big small thing to know your coordinates, that spot on the planet where your heart resides. Sometimes the coordinates are right where you lay your head and sometimes they’re traveling off somewhere with those who carry your heart around. Regardless, I love this tangible reminder of one small and simple fact… where you are. {and it’s hand-screenprinted, folks!}

Visit lovelanedesigns.com for more of the beautiful work of Lane Huerta. The “latitude” pillow can be customized with your chosen coordinates.

favorite things . Other People’s Paper

Daily PONDspiration [for the well-intentioned design nerd}… Yep, this inspiration will surely confirm my design nerdy-ness. I just ordered myself one of these paper packs from Three Potato Four filled with snipped specimens of paper and text from their curious collections of vintage items. The promise that each pack is curated from an “assortment of maps, tickets, stamps, cards, labels, signs, stencils and and all things old school” sold me for sure!

[I’ll keep y’all posted about what typographic loveliness arrives.]

favorite things . “Light Reading”

Daily PONDspiration [for the well-designed bright spot}… How about the inspiring ingenuity of this “Light Reading” chandelier from Lula Dot? It’s made of unused or unwanted books that are too labor intensive to feasibly recycle. Repurposing to the rescue in this funky alternative to crystal and metal. Great shape. Great concept.
