favorite things . Other People’s Paper

Daily PONDspiration [for the well-intentioned design nerd}… Yep, this inspiration will surely confirm my design nerdy-ness. I just ordered myself one of these paper packs from Three Potato Four filled with snipped specimens of paper and text from their curious collections of vintage items. The promise that each pack is curated from an “assortment of maps, tickets, stamps, cards, labels, signs, stencils and and all things old school” sold me for sure!

[I’ll keep y’all posted about what typographic loveliness arrives.]

favorite things . “Light Reading”

Daily PONDspiration [for the well-designed bright spot}… How about the inspiring ingenuity of this “Light Reading” chandelier from Lula Dot? It’s made of unused or unwanted books that are too labor intensive to feasibly recycle. Repurposing to the rescue in this funky alternative to crystal and metal. Great shape. Great concept.

favorite things . “Be Present Every Day”

Daily PONDspiration [for the well-designed week}… I’m adopting this admonition from Groundwork by Dana Ray as my motto this Monday morning! It’s a fitting goal in work and play. And the intriguing prints of Groundwork are fitting inspiration. Enjoy!

inspired by . Well-drawn Closet

Daily PONDspiration [for the well-drawn closet}… Take a look at these great illustrations of fashion accessories by Jenny Mortsell from Line – A Journal, No. 6. It’s an inspired and unexpected approach to showing products that are usually all photos and glitz. The intricate illustrations become little jewels hovering over the background textures. Nice.

Line – A Journal is an intriguing quarterly online magazine focused primarily in fashion with art, design, film and people-watching sprinkled in. It always sports some great photo styling!

favorite things . Analog Postcards

Daily PONDspiration [for well-designed low tech}… I came across this set of postcards from Yellow Owl Workshop and couldn’t resist the great black and white illustrations and reminders of time-honored tools. Even their hand-screenprinted process gives a nod to now-rare techniques.
