favorite things . Luxe Plates

The Decurate blog and shopping portal is a great showcase of unique products from designers and artists. I came across these iPhone covers when I was browsing recently. Luxe Plates are stainless steel covers etched with great designs. I love the feel of etched metal and these designs just make me smile. My favorites…
1. L4 | 2. Creative Outlet — ha! | 3. Calder — LOVE the reminder of Alexander Calder

four things for holding things

It’s a privilege to have the need to store. It means we have been blessed with ownership and possessions. I love the idea of elevating the mundane act of storage with beautiful and fun containers. I found four things for holding things that just make me smile.

1. Recycled canvas buckets from chewing the cud [also check out their awesome fabric wrapping]
2. Whitewashed wood bins from The Container Store
3. Birch storage boxes from CB2
4. Clear paint cans from The Container Store

favorite thing . Conversation Starter

This pillow from Heather Lins Home just makes me smile. I’ve mentioned Heather’s work before. I love her clever and simple designs and her exquisite use of typography.

I’ve been reading a lot lately about creating a more intentional digital life. Most of us are plugged in constantly. We see an ever-broadening view of the world — but often behind the glass of our laptop, smart phone or tablet screen. As I devote more and more of my work time to designing for digital media, and as I develop more and more client relationships with folks I may never see, I’m reminded that actual conversation is no small thing. No sir. I hope I’m taking the time to voice  what matters.

favorite things . Taped

I’ve been adding to this collection for a while and I finally settled on a few of my favorites to include. I’m also experimenting with a  new digital collage approach to sharing them — could be a trend!

1. Sketchbook tissue tape — butterfly illustrations & handwriting from PaperSource.com
2. Japanese washi paper tape from HappyTape.com — love the turquoise and red combo
3. Alphabet tape from House Industries — I think I love everything from this foundry.
4. Red & blue ticking stripe fabric tape from PaperSource.com
5. Semi-transparent washi tape from Top Hat — for an overlapping pattern
